Google Reader Died Because No One Would Run It: This is supposedly why Google Reader was shut down.

There’s a very simple corporate reason for why Google Reader was shut down earlier this month: no one internally deemed it important enough to even work on, much less save.

[…] it became obvious that despite Google Reader’s loyal fan base, working on the project was not going to get the attention of Page.

Attribution here is a little suspect – there’s nothing beyond “several sources close to the company told Buzzfeed.”



  1. Given the way that Plus has consumed nearly everything at Google I’m surprised it didn’t absorb Reader as well. Perhaps viewed as more competition than compliment.
