JSP 2.0 and The Future of ColdFusion

By Deane Barker on August 14, 2003

JavaServer Pages Technology: JSP 2.0 is coming and it looks a lot like…ColdFusion. The new thing is the JSTL — JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library — that encapsulates functionality like database calls and such. You could always write JSP Custom Tags, but this is a standardization of that so not every has to “roll their own.”

I looked at some of the syntax (Devx article here), and it looks quite simple. So where does this leave ColdFusion? Could it become a dead language? I never thought it got much support after the merger anyway.
