It’s Like Kids Attacking Their Parents

By Deane Barker on August 11, 2003

Internet infection spreads rapidly:

“A virus-like infection that was the subject of urgent U.S. government and industry warnings spread rapidly Monday across the Internet, causing computers to mysteriously restart and coordinating an electronic attack against Microsoft Corp.”

So a virus that exploits a flaw in Windows is coordinating computers to attack Microsoft…maker of Windows. There’s a perverse justice in that.

  1. Somewhere here at the office got hit with it early yesterday. It was discovered about 3 p.m., so she was on the first wave.

Apparently the virus is malfunctioning. By making the computers reboot, it’s giving itself away. So there’s a bug in the…bug.
