Evolution of a Name: “Doom Clone” vs “First Person Shooter”

It shows Usenet postings from 1993 to 2002, graphed by usage of the phrase “doom clone” and “firs person shooter.” In the beginning, everything was a “doom clone.” Then came others, and the more generic term started to prevail.
