Delicious Sans Dots

By Deane Barker on July 31, 2008

Delicious: launched the next generated of their platform, and they removed the dots. Apparently they could finally afford the domain name.

  1. I just noticed this a few days ago, myself (and just noticed the blog entry today, when the new feed made everything look new).

I was a little sad to that they lost their dots. Their clever use of dots and the .us TLD were one of the things that drew me to the site in the first place (before lots of other sites overused the splitting.words.up concept).

I do remember having to stop and think about where the dots needed to go whenever I tried to type, back when I started using it. The new, simpler domain name will make it easier for new users to type.

Seasoned delicious users mostly access it with extensions or bookmarklets, so the domain change will not have much impact on us (especially since the old domain name still exists, and redirects to the new one).
