The USA Today Content Tree

By Deane Barker on April 5, 2008

USA TODAY Content Tree: While looking for an internal link for my last story, I Googled “the content tree.” The second result was interesting — a taxonomy of all USA Today stories in a clickable, expandable tree structure.

The following topic tree represents the entire USA TODAY story collection going back as far as late 2003. We’ve presented these stories within our site structure, which has up to four (4) levels in each of our seven (7) site sections.

If you’re into Information Architecture, this is an interesting case study of content classification.
