Where the PHP Name Came From

How the PHP acronym was reborn: Interesting post from one of the old-school PHP guys about ho the language came to be called “PHP”. There really wasn’t much rhyme or reason to it. This is a quote from Rasmus back in 1998:

… I think I would prefer to just call it PHP and leave it up to the users to assign a meaning to the acronym. People Hate Programming, People Hate Perl, Please Hold Parties, Pretty HTML Programs, Perfect HTML Pages, Putrid Hateful Puke… whatever
