Animated Captchas

By Deane Barker on December 7, 2006

Another CAPTCHA project: It seems to me that this would be brutally effective.

It raises the bar in terms of the difficulty that it imposes to robots, as the actual text is never completely displayed in each of the animated image frames.

  1. From what I’ve read (sorry can’t find link) spammers are just waiting to start outsourcing comment spam. I’ve coded my own blog tool up and I’m starting to think that maybe it’s time to have a “trusted” commenter list. Meaning anyone I don’t know get’s put on hold, I’m a small volume site so it should work ok. For large sites….I don’t even want to think about it. ;-)

p.s. Your comment preview is very well done. Is it open source? If so where can I learn from the code? Thanks.

  2. That’s to bad you don’t believe in me. I only deliver presents to believers.

Now what am I going to do with all those extra ponies?
