Discussion Board Resources

Omgili: New Search Engine for Web Discussion Forums: Here’s a good post from MetaFilter about discussion forums that points to two good resources:

  • Big Boards is a directory of discussion boards, ranked by traffic.

  • Omgili is a search engine that only indexes discussion boards. Their results are very Google-ish, which makes me think they just purchased a big license for the Google appliance.

  1. I compared the results and Im so happy to see that their results are completely different then google’s. Finally an independent search engine :)

BTW they state in their about page that they crawl and index their own content and its all based on Lucene.

  2. they state in their about page that they crawl and index their own content and its all based on Lucene.

Then they should probably prepare for a lawsuit, because they’ve shamelessly ripped off the Google results page.

  3. Yes it looks similar to Yahoo and Google layout. But I dont think a lawsuit is in order, it just looks more familier like that. I actually prefer the google/yahoo look and feel and I dont like all the new multi complex results pages on many other search engines that actually rip off google’s results.
