The PostSecret-MTV Connection

By Deane Barker on March 22, 2006

Has anyone else visited PostSecret? This is an interesting blog. People send this guy sometimes elaborate postcards explaining some secret they have. (And when I write “send,” I mean “postal mail.”) He scans and blogs them.

It’s really compelling. Sometimes disturbing. And — everytime I visit — I see something in one of the entries to which I can relate. It’s also a blog that has enourmous appeal to non-bloggers. There’s no long stetches of text to read — just postcards.

There’s even a PostSecret book out now: PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives.

Anyway, I was skimming through the channels the other day, and I crossed over MTV just long enough to see a postcard I had seen on the site. I sat and watched, and it turns out it was a video for “Dirty Little Secret” by All American Rejects. In the video, a series of people hold up postcards from PostSecret long enough for you to read them.

Could this the first blog-music video mashup?

  1. can anyone point me to a website that shows the text of the cards shown in the All American Rejects video “Dirty Little Secret” (hopefully in order? I recetnly saw the video and checked the AAR website and could not find the post cards shown. I ask this since some of the cards i am unable to read, in particular the card with the drawing of the cat and the one with a math equation and drawing of a heart.

Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.

    Take care all, ken
