Origami Boot Rant

Microsoft launches cool new Origami; immediately cripples it: Kevin Maney takes exception to the fact that Origami needs to boot up.

A gadget like this MUST have instant on and off, like a Palm. Pull it out while in line at Starbucks to check e-mail, and — boom — it’s up and running. Get to the front of the line, hit one button and it’s shut down.



  1. It’s a full blown XP Tablet PC. I watched a video from the manager of the project this morning http://channel9.msdn.com/showpost.aspx?postid=169962 and he says the market is not for cellphone or palm.

    I was just about ready to buy a new intel MacMini to replace my CarPC’s Dell laptop when this thing started getting around the news. The origami is perfect for a CarPC application or other dedicated systems. They expect some to have docking stations which is even better.
