Pimp my Firefox

By Deane Barker on November 16, 2005

Turn Firefox into a web writer: Here’s a great article over at Lifehacker on how to hot-rod Firefox into being a really nice place to write text. We’ve probably covered all these extensions at one time or another, but it’s really handy to have all this one place. You can pimp a textarea quite a bit with the right extensions.

My new favorite: Tabinta, which let’s you insert tabs in textareas. Web developers have to write HTML in textareas way too often to not have this plugin.

  1. Deane, Gina at Lifehacker credited Gadgetopia with the Tabina reference. Nice credit trade…link swapping by good sites that give credit where due. Excellent.

  2. Is it just me, or is everyone used a fairly outdated version of Firefox these days? None of the extensions listed in that article or this post are supported for versions of Firefox later than 1.0. They sound like great extensions, don’t get me wrong, but nothing so spectacular that I would actually downgrade my Firefox installation to be able to install them.
