Start Over

NBC and Time Warner ‘Start Over’ with joint venture: This is a small step down the road to putting Tivo out of business.

Dubbed “Start Over,” the new service will allow Time Warner customers to rewind and watch a show that is already in progress on NBC as well as its other cable networks such as Bravo, CNBC, SCI FI and USA.

[…] The newspaper reported that once the show ends, customers will no longer be able to access the program and customers will not be able to advance past commercials.

Tivo has changed TV so much that its service will get consumed by the networks and cable providers themselves. A victim of its own success, really.

And this is another step down the road towards making TV shows on-demand. That day is coming because it’s what consumers want. And the only to prevent consumers from doing it illegally is to find a business model that lets them do it legally.
