NTLM with Firefox: It Can Be Done

By Deane Barker on October 8, 2005

Get Firefox to do NTLM: This is very cool. Why wasn’t this documented earlier?

SharePoint pages look and work fine in Firefox, but I was having to reauthenticate on every single page, which really hindered my enjoyment of the experience.

I finally figured out how to get Firefox to do NTLM, which means I don’t have to deal with the authentication dialogs, thereby reducing my dependence on IE to one and only one application

Thanks to Matt for pointing this out.

  1. I switched over to using Maxthon for my browser at work instead of Firefox due to Firefox’s NTLM limitations. Maxthon is a definite improvement over IE, but I think I will be switching back to Firefox with this little trick.

  2. Cheers very much for this tip… I have been tearing my hair out with FF and NTLM for a while now for Intranet apps.

    Cheers again
