Napster Film

Paramount/MTV Taking a Napster: What’s stranger, that there’s a Napster film in the works, or that it’s going to be written by Alex Winter — who you may remember as Bill (or “not Keanu”), From Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.

Paramount and MTV Films have given the greenlight to Napster: The Shawn Fanning Bio Project and have signed Alex Winter to write the screenplay. The project was originally intended for television, but it was recently decided that it would be taken to the big screen.

The film will focus on how, in 1999, Fanning created Napster (his own nickname) in his dorm room at Northeastern University in Boston as a way for collegians to swap music files on the Internet.
