I could put dozens of Nielsen’s AlertBox columns up here, but this one hits close to home. The practice of hard-coding a font size so the default browser function of enlarging or reducing the displayed font size is disabled just drives me up the wall.
What’s worse is when developers hard-code it in one place and not another, so trying to increase the font-size makes some text larger, but not other text. Why this concept is so hard to grasp? The ability to resize text is a core browser behavior. Why do some developers feel they can make this choice for the visitor?
