Google Rips Off OS X Dock

By on March 16, 2005

Those guys in Google Labs have great taste, but they must have a bit too much time on their hands. The latest of their brainchildren to be cut loose is Google X, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the Dock in Apple’s Mac OS X.

“Roses are red. Violets are blue. OS X rocks. Homage to you.”

Not nearly as smooth or as customizable as the Dock, but just give them time.

  1. That’s quite disappointing. I thought it was a bit strange that it wasn’t listed on the Google Labs page

By the way, I got the link from MacMinute News — credit where credit is due. That page IS still there, just to remind me that I didn’t imagine the whole thing! That’d be something new; internet hallucinations.

Gotta love the Google ads on this page; “Dock Accessories and more: Cleats, pier lights, rod holders, fish cleaning tables, piling caps.”

  2. Sorry but when I first saw the Apple doc I thought it looked like the CDE / XFCE dock. Granted Apple’s is much more refined, but the concept of a doc was no new. Please correct me if I am wrong.
