Postgres 8 on Windows

By Deane Barker on January 19, 2005

PostgreSQL 8 Released: I noticed this the other day. There’s a Windows installer for Postgres with this new release.

[Version 8] is the first PostgreSQL release to natively run on Microsoft Windows as a server.

So add Postgres to (at least) MySQL and Firebird as enterprise-level open source database servers for Windows.

  1. Well, you could count this under MySQL, but MaxDB runs under Windows as well – in fact, it even has an IA64 binary for Windows. And its certified for SAP R/3.
