Where is My Flying Car?

By Deane Barker on January 12, 2005

Will Life Be Worth Living In 2,000AD?: Predictions of how life in the year 2000 will (would?) be, from a 1961 magazine article.

It looks as if everything will be so easy that people will probably die from sheer boredom.

You will be whisked around in monorail vehicles at 200 miles an hour and you will think nothing of taking a fortnight’s holiday in outer space.

Your house will probably have air walls, and a floating roof, adjustable to the angle of the sun.

Where is my flying car!?!? I was promised a flying car as recently as the early 80s!

  1. Actually, the way I’ve seen some people drive, I think it’s a good thing that flying cars are still out of reach. Most people have enough trouble with two-dimensional navigation; adding a third would be way scary.
