Talk about colossally bad ideas… Live-Shot makes it possible to kill things with the click of a mouse, all from the comfort of your computer desk.

LIVE-SHOT is similar to a trip to the rifle range with one very notable exception. Everything is done through a computer and the internet.

Right now, all they offer is target shooting, but they hope to make available remote-controlled camera rifles hidden in blinds for mouse jockeys to lie in wait for live game to wander into range. Barbary Sheep, Blackbuck Antelope, wild hog, and other species will be available for shootin’ on Live-Shot’s Texas ranch. They’ll even dress your kill out and have it stuffed & mounted for you. For a price, of course.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term “first person shooter.” What’s next? Pay-Per-Shot remote control snipers in war zones?

  1. “Talk about colossally bad ideas… Live-Shot makes it possible to kill things with the click of a mouse, all from the comfort of your computer desk.”

Because you do not understand something does not automatically make it a bad idea. Honestly, I expect more from Gadgetopia.

  2. I understand it perfectly, but maybe I didn’t word that opening sentence very well. That was just my first reaction to the whole concept.

What I don’t understand is the point of it. I’m a hunter, and have done more than a little target shooting in my life. This outfit simply insulates the shooter from the entire experience and reduces the shooter’s skill set to getting a target in your sights and pulling the trigger (or clicking the mouse.) There is a lot more to the sport than that. Outside of the geek/brag factor — which is huge — you might as well stick with video games.

  3. “I expect more from Gadgetopia.”

I’m frankly amazed that someone actually “expects” anything from us. I didn’t realize we had standards.

  4. Let alone “honest” expectations. At least they had enough sense not to call it what it is, Extreme “Duck Hunt.” You can almost see Ender’s Game from here…

  5. I’m all about guns especially for self-defense and hunting. However I don’t understand the need to kill things just for sport. I get just as much a thrill out of paint-ball and target shooting. I’ve been hunting a few times and found it boring. If hunting is your thing how about taking your two week vacation in Iraq and helping our Soilders and Marines kill some bad people. That has to be harder than killing a slow arse buck or a sheep.

  6. lets all just calm down and think for a second… when are u going to start the live hunt/ rapist on a deserted island hunt? now that is something i would be up for, but instead of bullets lets introduce a robot with knives and clubs with nails in them… just to make it interesting!

  7. hi

i also think this is a quit sick thing,

i just send a mail to the owner of the site, i asked what it cost if i want to shoot the owner of this site with his .22 caliber gun

maby its a good idea all of you do the same,

    greetings

  8. “i just send a mail to the owner of the site, i asked what it cost if i want to shoot the owner of this site with his .22 caliber gun”

ARAM – What did he ever do to you? Yes,, you might think its sick, but he came up with the idea first, and he is making money from it, wether you agree with him or not you have no right to personnaly target him with wild threats.

This type of thing is going to catch on, he was just the first person to come up with the idea and hes clever if you ask me. Hunting has been around forever, the internet enable people to interact in ways they never have before. If you cant afford to go trophy hunting, or you cant actually hunt because of a disability – then why shouldn’t you be able to do it online. Its just another huge advancement in cyber technology,,You looked at his website, he didnt force you, so leave him alone, he is making a living like you or me.

There is alot of stuff you can get on the internet these days, the majority of which i dont agree with, but thats my opinion – whatever your into is your business. Concentrate your efforts on targeting people who promote ilegal activities online, like child pornography, stalkers, terrorist, gambling – all these thing hurt living things too!

  9. Does anybody know anything about the technical side of things, how they link the gun to your computer, and how they handle the safety isues? Thanks. Deborah, Wisconsin

  10. Hunting is the best thing. It is really exciting and challenging. I think all you hippie bastards need to shut up and go fight in iraq your damn selves.

  11. the best thing is not hunting for sport, hunting would be more fun if we actually needed the food ever. “iraq”????? FUCKING IRAQ????? do you understand the concept of relevance at all???

i wish ignorance didnt have such powerful effects on the human race.

  12. HOLD THE PHONE… If we have that type of technology, then why THE HELL ARE OUR MEN AND WOMEN DYING IN IRAQ? Why is this technology not being used over there. These DAMN computers are obsolete after 6 months anyway. And we all seem to have 3 or 4 lying around the house or garage. So lets all contact our congressmen and suggest this to them and ole George Bush. Who knows. It just might work. Oh bye the way! What ever happened to that big ass telescope US Taxpayers sent to, who knows where? This Guy has a great idea. Lets just point it at the enemy. Thanks for reading.

  13. I THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA, AND THE PERSON THAT CAME UP WITH THIS SHOULD RUN FOR RESIDENT. ALL OF YOU OTHER STUPID MOTHER FUCKER ARE JUST MAD YOU DIDN’T THINK OF THIS FIRST. IT TAKES A SMART PERSON TO PUT TIME A EFFORT IN TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS. I HOPE NONE OF YOU “REAL HUNTERS” EVER BECOME DISABLED WHERE YOU CAN NEVER GO OUT AND HUNT AGAIN BECUASE THEN YOU WILL BE SUCKING HIS DICK!!! SENDING MAIL SAYING PLEASE HELP ME HUNT AGAIN MR. LIVE-SHOT PERSON. ALL OF YOU PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

  14. That is a very insightfull comment. If he is such a smart person he shouldn’t dump his money into this idea because he should know that it is never going to happen. As for the crippled hunter comment, do you think we should have a robot or something that is operated by a mouse play football for them if they used to play? Ancira, I think I speak for everyone including your parents when I say that you are a genuine dumbass. Your mother should have followed her regular routine and just swollowed when the nut containing your wasted genes was released from whatever gutter junkie you call dad.

  15. Putting aside the killing of animals this is a very interesting idea. This is Machine Human interface and the skills learned in setting up such a system for targets and other moving objects (Definitely not animals and I dont advocatye that at all folks) requires considerable skill. There is a heap of programming to make the system robust and a range of technical problems to solve. The key part in the article I read about this site was the income was really derived from the target shooting. The planet is full of people who want to shoot. If you can restrict/control that urge to targets then it saves a few animals (presuming that this animal live-shot thing doesnt progress).

  16. I EAT WHAT I KILL, I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF VIRGINIA AND I THINK IT IS A GREAT IDEA, FOR PEOPLE WHO CANT GET OUT AND HUNT, ALL YOU ANIMAL RIGHTS TURDS LEAVE US ALONE, YOU ARE ALREADY OVER POPULATED NOW , SO LETS CONTROL THE POPULATION OF THE ANIMALS, AND GRILL IT! ITS BETTER THAN THAT E-COLI MEAT AT THE STORE. AND TARGET SHOOTING IS FUN FOR NORMAL PEOPLE.

  17. Do you need ADSENSE approved account @ very low Rate?? Do you need real WEB TRAFFIC @very low rate?? Do you need WEB HOSTING @ very low rate??? Do you need WEB DESIGNING @ very low rate?? Do you need SEO TRAINING @ very low rate??

  18. all of u need to shut the fuck up its a stupid idea…ive seen many cripples in the woods….online hunting just ruins it for the rest of us….we hunt in the woods for peace not just to kill an animal….a bad day at hunting is better then a good day at wok….
