Taipei 101: World’s Tallest

By Deane Barker on October 8, 2004

Taipei skyscraper deemed tallest: While we waxed poetic about their elevators, Taipei 101 was certified today as the world’s tallest building.

The 101-story skyscraper is 184 feet taller than the previous record-holder, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Taipei 101 also claims a hat trick for having the highest structural top, tallest roof and the highest occupied floor.

  1. thsi building has so many interesting facts to it…it isn’t just the worlds tallest building…it also hass the ability to survive a strong earthquake!

  2. I think the height of the tower is disputed… Taipei 101 is 508 meters at the antenna, while the reported height of the Sears Tower is 448 meters without the Antenna and 527 meters WITH the Antenna. Isn’t it weird?

  3. Taipei 101 is the tallest buliding in the world becuase The Sears Tower antenna doesn’t count in its height while the antenna on Taipei 101 does.

  4. Whoa…I’m doing a report about Taipei 101 and this skyskraper is giant, I saw it last year and it is bigger in person than you think it is I loved it. I went on an elevator and it scared me….it can survive earthquakes without anything different than before the earthquake hit. 1667 feet tall…. humongous :D I loved it though
