CNet Redesign

By Deane Barker on September 27, 2004

We remodeled, and here’s why: CNet has redesigned. News.com looks the same.

To more fully reflect the relevance, the utility, and, yes, the excitement of personal technology in your everyday life, we’re making our home page more lively, rich, and human. We’ve painted the site in deeper colors. We’ve added a new set of bright green tabs along the top of every page on our site. We’ve elevated the role of video. We’re giving a face to the people behind CNET.com.

  1. Whenever someone says they’re making their page more “lively” it tends to mean crowded. At least the top third of the page visible is whitespace with a big ad in the middle of it! :)
