Blog Sale

By Deane Barker on September 24, 2004

I’m Now A Millionnaire: This guy sold his blog for $15,000. I don’t get it. Why would someone pay that? What is a blog without the author?

As far as I’m aware, Ensight’ll be the first blog to be sold for anything beyond the domain name’s value (a couple of hundred bucks typically). It’ll be the first blog to be sold as and bought as a blog.

  1. Given the recent “Rathergate” deal, and the role that blogs made in that story, one of the things Jeremy said, “…realised that someone could easily build a network of likeminded blogs simply through buying them,” makes me wonder about some of the deeper ramifications of this, if it becomes a trend. If a row of political blogs can be bought up by an individual with an agenda, and the content of the blogs is controlled by that buyer, that’ll make the blogosphere not much different from the newspaper and TV news industry today.

    Or maybe I’m just paranoid.
