Monet Mobile seeks bankruptcy protection, will unplug net: Sadly, we were one of the 3,000 subscribers.

Monet Mobile Networks, a provider of high-speed wireless Internet access in eight Midwestern cities, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and plans to turn off the service in early April.

The company, which raised more than $80 million to build its cutting-edge wireless network, signed up only 3,000 subscribers for the $40 per month service.

It was pretty cool — you could surf the Web in the back sea of the car driving all over town.
