Usable vs. Useful

By Deane Barker on December 8, 2003

The difference between usable and useful: A good point here. All the usability in the world means nothing if the goal it aids the user in achieving isn’t what the user wanted to do in the first place.

…it must be recognised that a site can be perfectly designed, but still useless. Fundamentally, a site is not effective if it doesn’t provide the information and tools that users need, regardless of how well structured and implemented it is.
