PC Sales Surge

By Deane Barker on November 28, 2003

PC sales may be coming out of doldrums: PC sales are up between 14% and 20% this year, depending on who you ask.

The numbers are encouraging to a sector that has been languishing for the past three years, battered by the dot-bomb, a flagging economy and a mountainous inventory of used equipment that sold at auction for far less than even the cheapest new computers.

In confirmation, Intel, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft and others reported stronger-than-expected PC-related sales in quarterly earnings.

I still think hardware is a bad place to be these days. In related news, Gateway has been down lately.
