Microsoft’s Domain Name Renewal Problerms

Michael Chaney’s Personal Web Page at Doublewide: Since Microsoft apparently forgot to renew the domain, to disastrous consequences, I think it’s only fitting that we look back on the time they forgot to review back in 1999. Here’s the story from the guy who fixed that problem with a $35 credit card payment.

“On January 15, 2000, I received the check from Microsoft for $500, in addition to a new copy of Visual Studio 6.0 (which I need to compile and run the decss program to decode my DVD’s so that I can play them under Linux). I put the check up on ebay to raise money for charity.”
