Employee Blog Issues

Worker blogs raise some company concerns: I read Scoble quite a bit, actually. We talked about employees blogging some time ago — I wonder if Microsoft has come out with a definitive policy yet.

“There are an estimated 1.2 million blogs, or Web logs — Web pages that function as personal publishing forums. But few companies have blog policies, and they run a risk should their employee divulge confidential company information or make statements that compromise it financially or legally.

‘The golden rule is, don’t talk about a product until management does,’ says Robert Scoble, 38, a new Microsoft employee who is one of 150 Microsoft bloggers. ‘I’m representing a multibillion-dollar company and have to be careful.’”
