This has been around a bit before, but is no less insane. Worthy of bringing up again cuz now there is a good SF Gate article with photos and a video interview of the owner/builder, with footage of him burning some kerosene with it.

The thing that gets me is that the intake for the jet engine is inside the passenger compartment. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that’s a colossally bad idea? Makes me wonder what happens if he lights the fire with the windows up; does his head explode or does the roof cave in? Either way, I don’t want to be along for the ride when it happens.

   I’m pretty sure putting a jet engine in your VW bug is a colossally bad idea to begin with. :)

   reminds me of that darwin award for the guy who strapped two solid rockets (designed to help heavy planes take off on short runways) onto his car, and promptly drove his car into a cliff at 200mph
