EROS Data Center Assisting Katrina Relief

The EROS Data Center (right here in South Dakota) is using its imagery to assist in the relief and recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
USGS EROS is supporting first responders and emergency services working in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Within hours of Katrina’s disastrous landfall on the Gulf Coast, EROS began channeling vital imagery to state and local governments, FEMA and other federal agencies – providing views of the devastated area, which helped prioritize the relief efforts.

EROS is like the hidden James Bond supervillain headquarters of South Dakota.
