The Web: Fifteen years of browsing: I was 19 when the Web was created, it turns out. It had a birthday last week. This is a good article. Fifteen years ago this Christmas week, Tim Berners-Lee, an obscure scientist working in a European laboratory, invented the Internet…
Lacking the facilities for a 'Punch-the-Monkey' banner ad, this draft of HTML never really got off the ground.
Something's fishy about a 'first web page ever' that has links to other pages!
Well, I think this was archived after other pages had been created and linked to. But it's apparently the same page (in the same file, at the same url, whatever) as the first one ever created. What you're seeing there isn't a representation of how it looked the second it hit the Net.
I'm not normally a betting man, but I'll put up a million bucks that it said "Hello World" at that moment.
I reckon it could be bs WHO THE F#%* KNOWS THE FIRST PAGE ON THE WEB ANY WAY. IT'S A BLOODY GOVERNMENT CONSPIRACY.!!!!!
first page was by tim bernerslee on 6 aug. 1991. goto -http://www.w3.org/History/19921103-hypertext/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html for example
