Electric Cars Can Go Fast

Effort to Set Electric Car Record Delayed: These guys are having some technical problems this week, but I’m interested to see how it works out.

Nevada agreed to shut down a state highway for the torpedo-shaped car’s attempt to top 300 mph — which would shatter the old mark of 245 mph, set by an American team in 1999 using a similarly streamlined car powered by thousands of “AA” batteries.

First, 245 m.p.h? Wow.

Second, “AA” batteries? Why would you do this? And how can even “thousands” of them provide enough juice for enough time?

educate yourself! electric cars are much faster the comperable gasoline vehicles because of their superior torque.

The fastest currently available electric car is the Tzero by AC Propulsion 909-592-5399 http://www.acpropulsion.com/ – goes 0-60 is less than 4 seconds. It uses 6000 AA sized batteries – lithium rechargable and has a 300 mile range.

For the higher end we also have the Venturi Ftish EV Sportscar 106mph top speed, 150 mile range, http://www.venturi.fr/

In addition, this car is going to get lots of publicity this year from being used in a movie by George Clooney: Tango Electric Car Commuter Cars Corporation (509) 624-0762 2 passengers, 124 mph 80 mile range 0-60 in 4 seconds http://www.commutercars.com/ – one year till full production, taking refundable deposts now.

    the rEVolution is moving forward!

No they can’t be stopped now that it has been shown they can be fast safe and efficient and don’t have to look like glorified golf carts.
