Australian John Martinkus was kidnapped in Baghdad on Saturday because his captors thought he was a CIA agent. The kidnappers googled him and found enough information on his homepage to convince them that he was who he said he was and he was freed.
I smell a business opportunity here. Bogus web sites for people (or CIA agents) who feel they might find themselves in this situation. You could detail your fictional journalistic and humanitarian endeavors and espouse the beliefs of whatever land you are planning to visit.
