“SpaceShipOne captures X Prize”

Home

SpaceShipOne captures X Prize: Yeah, baby. What a great headline.

SpaceShipOne climbed into space for the second time in a week to claim the $10 million Ansari X Prize.

X Prize officials said the privately funded craft reached 368,000 feet — well into space — Monday to win the $10 million prize.

Stuff like this makes me feel good to be alive. This reminds me of when the Mars Rover set foot (wheel?) on Mars back in 1997. Nothing is impossible.

Rutan is already talking about SpaceShipTwo at the post-flight press conference today. That guy is my hero.

There’s already a bunch of information about SS1 on Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScaledCompositesSpaceShipOne
