Towards a Blogging Standard

Home

RoadMap - Sam Ruby’s Wiki: This is a consortium of some of the A-list bloggers to standardize what a Web log is. They’re trying to distill the basic elements of a blog, and develop a standard to which blogging tools can adhere. While that seems unrealistic in the vast blogging community, most of the developers of the major platforms have signed on to change their systems when a standard is developed.

“This wiki is an open forum for agreeing on a new log format that is: 100% vendor neutral, implemented by everybody, freely extensible by anybody, and cleanly and thoroughly specified.”

Why do this, you ask? Because a nomadic, fragmented system is ripe for invasion by a coordinated force, as Dave Winer so eloquently expressed about RSS.
