Macromedia - Macromedia Central: I think this has the potential to be huge. Macromedia Central is a single user interface (code-named “Halo”) into which Flash and Shockwave applications can be “plugged.”
If you write an app, you can include an XML file that explains how it’s to be paid for, and users will be able to download it into Central. Central apps are designed as SOAP interfaces that use Web servers to handle the heavy-lifting. They’re also designed for “occasional connectivity” for laptops and PDAs that aren’t connected all the time. Macromedia has a good whitepaper (PDF) on it.
This almost makes me want to learn ActionScript. Almost.
