I’m a little frustrated with Microsoft and a couple computer manufacturers tonight. You see, I’m owed an operating system, and these companies are conspiring to prevent me from collecting.
I'm not sure if this is new or not, but I've never seen it before. I was buying a machine from Dell today, and they're now giving the option to get "standard" reinstallation media for an extra $10. This is really good, because I despise the "Recovery CDs" that come…
It would irritate me to no end to have to buy Windows 2000, but I did find it at this site for $95:

Dear Sir: The OEM Version license that you got with "the new Box" is only valid when being run on "the new box" it is a wierd deal and if you went to the store and bought a new retail OS that license would be good for any box you put it on. But the OEM version of the license is tied to the mother board on which it arrives.
It is a pain in unmentionable places but it is the way the license agreements are written.
